Trimming our First Tree

Our first Tree

Ok so unfortunately my photography skills are a bit lacking. I am working on it though, so they will get better! Our decorations came from the 99 cent store, Joann’s Fabrics, and me. That fancy “G” that you see up there was actually purchased a Michael’s for our wedding but we didn’t use it. The top star was from the 99 cent store.

This is how we stabilized the tree in the bucket.

In order to make our tree sturdy we purchased another bucket for about $4 then cut a hole in the bottom. I will admit that this isn’t the most sturdy set up. But once we got the right position it hasn’t tipped or fallen so I think we’re good. I have heard that some people use bleach in their water to keep the tree from growing mold. Of course I don’t get down with bleach. So I put some of my anti viral Thieves mix in about a  gallon and a half of water. Let’s see how this works!

This is our engagement photo.

I put some Martha Stewart glitter paint inside and swirled it around for this one. The letters are made using stickers from Michaels.

For this one I used a circle of pink sparkly paper. It was the same paper from my wedding invitations.

This ornament is filled with coarse sea salt to look like snow.

This ornament is filled with cotton balls. The “G” is a sticker from Michael’s.

This was a wooden letter from Michael’s. I added rhinestones which I had left over from my invitations which my grandma (in-law) made.

Lester’s more simple initial.

Here we are putting the finishing touches on.

Since our apartment is…quaint…we didn’t have a lot of flexibility on where we could put the tree. This is why we placed it under our DIY canvas print. Oh yeah we made that picture ourselves. Boom! I’m definitely a less is more kind of girl. Oh and did I mention that these are our wedding colors? Everything about our cute little tree makes me smile. It is exactly what I wanted and somehow a little bit more. Anywho I’d love to know what your Christmas tree colors are and why you chose them. Please share!
