So you are probably wondering why I decided to include my kitchen in this blog. Well it’s simple, I wanted you to know that I am a real person. I am a real newlywed who is starting off in her first apartment with her husband and it isn’t all roses and rainbows in here. Well, let me be more specific about that. So far, this phase of our relationship has been mostly roses and rainbows. I have thoroughly enjoyed my marriage with my husband. It was well worth the wait and that aspect is pretty darn fantastic!
However to save money we decided to begin our marriage in his small one bedroom apartment. The reasoning behind this is we didn’t want to start things off by adding any additional hurdles. Many couples struggle with their finances when they first marry. We chose to live well below our means to provide us with more wiggle room financially.
Since we have made this decision to live in a smaller, older, apartment we now have a smaller, older kitchen. As a “new school homemaker” I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I have gone from someone who ate at least 75 percent of her meals out to preparing around 75 percent of our meals at home. In a perfect world I would have a big kitchen with lots of storage for my gadgets and lots of prep space and most importantly a DISHWASHER! But that wasn’t meant to happen right now.
When I look at most blogs, bloggers have amazing kitchens with big windows that provide all the natural lighting that they need to result in perfect photos. I don’t have any of that. Most of the time when I am taking videos or pics in my kitchen I have to make sure that you don’t see my husband in the background, that there aren’t any dishes in the sink, and that my lighting is acceptable. So if I can create wonderful and healthful meals in this kitchen so can you in yours.
So this is my kitchen. I look forward to sharing with you my accomplishments in this kitchen as well as those from other rooms in the apartment through this blog. 🙂
